Research & development is the foundation for the superstructure of technology.
However, all stakeholders will have to realize that the R & D is necessary but
it is not sufficient for commercialization of nanotechnology. A whole lot of steps
will be needed to be taken before the Nanotechnology products are accepted by the market
and the consumers. In the context of nanotechnology , it is even truer because it
presents too revolutionary a change in the way the world has existed so far. The
scientists and the researchers, in their zeal to discover, innovate and create something
new, often forget that in addition to the laboratory, there is another testing ground
for their applications: the market. Ideally, a product or process has to start from
there or at least it has to take into account what the users exactly want, at what
prices and conditions.
